Nino got into the hospitality business over 40 years ago, working on cruise ships. He met his wife, Jinder in Singapore and they settled in Northern Virginia 30 years ago. Nino has successfully managed six different restaurant in this area including Primi Piatti, Fellini, Relish, Zeffirelli, Palio and Zibbibo 73.
Jim & Margaret Manchisi grew up in Queens, New York. Jim's father's parents Catherine and Francesco Manchisi, came to New York from Bari, Italy in the early 1900's. Jim & Margaret moved to Virginia in 2006 and met Nino and Joginder at Zeffirelli's in Herndon, VA. Like many of Nino's patrons, the Manchisis's loved the experience at Nino's restaurants and had many family events there. Jim & Margaret suggested that Nino and Joginder should follow Nino's dream to run their own restaurant. We all agreed to work to make that possible and we formed a partnership.
On April 3rd, 2015, Osteria da Nino, Cucina Italiana (translated as Nino's Tavern, Italian Kitchen) opened here in The Village at Shirlington in Arlington, VA. We hope everyone who comes here has a great dining experience and that we will be your Italian Restaurant of choice!
